  • EVERYTHING ABOUT EXTENSION of TIME (EOT) CLAIM IN CONSTRUCTION / Is Covid-19 considered as a Force Majeure ?
Often events occur or conditions arise which cause delay to the project. Time extension provisions of the contract generally provide that when these events or conditions occur the contract milestone/completion dates may be extended. Once time extensions and/or additional compensation have been agreed with the Customer, they should be incorporated into the contract by amendment.
Extension of Time (EOT) claim in construction is an extra time added to the initial contract length, an extension of time claims generally presented by the contractor to request extra time due to modifications made by clients.
Extension of time requests are normally claimed due to the following circumstances:

  •        Force Majeure or Acts of God like Quarantine restrictions, Epidemics, Fires, Floods, Acts of the public enemy, Strikes, Freight Embargoes, Unusually severe weather, Threats of Terrorism.

  •         Client change order requests not included in the original contract for additional work.

  •         Unknown conditions at the time of signing the contract that affect the time for the contract works to be delivered.
